ABILENE REGIONAL AIRPORT
The land surrounding the Abilene Regional Airport is home to many businesses that contribute to the economy in Abilene. Abilene Aero provides Charter Services, Aircraft Maintenance, Flight School, and more.
Chapter 471 of the Experimental Aircraft Association is housed at the west side of Abilene Regional Airport. This donation based group is made up of flight enthusiasts whose purpose is to further the love of flight in all types of aircraft. One of the EAA’s big events is the Young Eagles program that gives young people between the ages of eight and seventeen years of age the opportunity to fly in general aviation airplanes.
Located adjacent to Abilene Regional Airport’s property is Texas State Technical College (TSTC). Texas State Technical College is a commuter campus with flexible hours designed to accommodate the needs of traditional and non-traditional students. Including an airframe and power plant program, TSTC’s coursework is reflective of the broad economy of West Central Texas.
Eagle Aviation Services, Inc. (EASI) is also located at Abilene Regional Airport, repairing and maintaining American Eagle aircraft. With a total of 5 hangars, EASI has the ability to service Bombardier CRJ700, Embraer EMB145, Saab 340B, and EMB175 aircraft in its twenty-four hour, seven-day-a-week operation. Most of its four-hundred plus workforce are air-frame and power plant licensed mechanics, with the remainder of the force working in the parts and record department, production control, and management positions.
