EAA 471
Chapter 471 of the Experimental Aircraft Association is housed on the west side of Abilene Regional Airport. This donation-supported group is made up of flight enthusiasts whose purpose is to further the love of flight in all types of aircraft. One of the EAA’s big events is the Young Eagles program that gives young people between the ages of eight and seventeen years of age the opportunity to fly in general aviation airplanes.
Texas State Technical College
Located adjacent to Abilene Regional Airport’s property is Texas State Technical College (TSTC). While TSTC has a main campus within the city of Abilene, this important airport tenant maintains another here at the ABI site. TSTC is a commuter campus with flexible hours designed to accommodate the needs of traditional and non-traditional students. TSTC's coursework, which Includes an airframe and power plant program, also covers a wide array of technical skills, reflective of the broad economy of West Central Texas.
Eagle Aviation
Eagle Aviation Services, Inc. (EASI) is also located at Abilene Regional Airport, repairing and maintaining American Eagle aircraft. With a total of 5 hangars, EASI has the ability to service various commercial aircraft in its 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation. Most of its 400-plus workforce are air-frame and power plant licensed mechanics, with the remainder of the force working in the parts and record department, production control, and management positions.
