Public Notice of Availability: In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the Council on Environmental Quality regulations, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issues this notice that it has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Runway 4-22 Decommissioning Project and has made the EA available for public review and comment. The Draft EA considers the potential environmental impacts of the implementation of the Project. The Project’s Proposed Action is to decommission Runway 4-22 and cancel its air traffic procedures at the Abilene Regional Airport located on the southeast side of the City of Abilene, Texas. The purpose for the Proposed Action is to address the funding, regulatory, and safety needs detailed in the EA document and to provide for a more efficient use of the existing airfield.

Comments: The public comment period will commence on November 01, 2020 and will close on December 1, 2020. The FAA encourages interested parties to review the Draft EA, and provide written comments during the public comment period. Written comments must be postmarked by December 1, 2020. The public is invited to submit comments by mail, or via email. Before including your address, phone number, e‐mail address or other personal identifying information in your comment, be advised that your entire comment – including your personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us in your comment to withhold from public review your personal identifying information, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
