TSA Launches Precheck Program at Abilene Regional Airport
ABILENE, TEXAS- On January 1, 2014 The Transportation Security Administration launched the TSA Precheck Program at Abilene Regional Airport. TSA Precheck is an expedited screening program for U.S. citizens.
Abilene Regional Airport’s TSA Precheck Program will allow shoes, light outerwear and belts through the expedited screening process. However, the 3-1-1 approved liquids/gels bag, laptops and laptop cases will still need to be screened.
The TSA checkpoint at Abilene Regional Airport will not have an additional lane, but will provide an expedited screening process for those passengers pre-approved through the TSA Precheck Program.
The TSA Precheck application program requires a background check, fingerprints and an anticipated enrollment fee of $85 for a five-year membership. Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) and the opportunity to go through TSA Precheck lanes at security checkpoints at participating airports.
According to the Transportation Security Administration, to date, more than 12 million travelers have already experienced TSA Precheck at 40 airports nationwide. This announcement expands the availability of this program to Abilene.
